Pattern adapted from a circa 1890 painting by Herbjørn Gausta, a Norwegian who came to the United States as a child with his family and settled in Minnesota. As an adult, Gausta returned to Europe and studied at the Munich Academy of Art.  I adapted the design to create a pattern for Nancy Marler, Rolla, MO.  Nancy was inspired by a hooked version of this painting by Sally Hentges, Dubuque, IA, which was included in Celebrations XXV magazine. Painting dimensions: 778 5/16" x 54 5/16". Photo Credit: Collection of Luther College Fine Arts.
